Ripple recently made an unusual transfer of $500 million worth of XRP that has caught the attention of market participants. The tokens were transferred to a new account that does not have multi-sig security settings and was done outside of Ripple’s usual escrow agreements. The move coincides with Ripple’s plan to establish an XRP digital treasury company and raise up to $1 billion in capital.
According to XRP Scan data, around 220 million XRP has been transferred to the new account. Analysts believe that the transfer is likely aimed at Ripple’s participation in the proposed treasury structure that will ensure long-term storage of XRP. Ripple currently holds over 41 billion XRP, including escrow balances, which represent around 35% of the token’s total supply.
Some experts see this move as a positive distribution mechanism for the XRP market, as it allows tokens to be distributed among entities with a long-term holding approach, reducing the likelihood of extreme price fluctuations. This approach could help balance supply and demand and strengthen the market structure.
